Pursuing With Those

A little about my life as a Christian: I've spent most of my life in Texas, but I still tell everyone that I'm from Baton Rouge, LA—that's where I went to junior and senior high school. Most of my friends in high school were Christians, and I was satisfied with my "Christian life". I had received the Lord Jesus as my Savior at a much younger age, but as a teenager, I was not very interested in pursuing earnestly after the Lord.

I was very active in school activities and sports. I even graduated as valedictorian of my senior class and as a captain of my high school football team. I was living what I thought was the “American Dream”. I found out quickly, however, that I was really missing a lot in my life. In fact, I was missing the One thing that really matters—I was missing the real, daily experience of Christ Jesus.

I entered college as a freshman at The University of Texas, and I was immediately introduced to a group of believers on that campus who really loved and pursued after the Lord. After so many years of being passive in my relationship with Jesus Christ, I found that I was actually enjoying Him in reading the Bible, in prayer, and through meeting with other Christians. I have been helped—and I am still being helped—in my pursuing after Him “with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart” (2 Timothy 2:22)
